What can and should you do when you receive a report of misconduct?
It is not uncommon for situations to arise where someone feels the need to report misconduct or other concerning issues. Such cases can be challenging for everyone involved, and as a leader in a student organization, you have a responsibility to handle them in a safe and appropriate manner. Many people find this difficult, and it can be tempting to either postpone action or make quick decisions. However, a well-managed process from the outset is essential to prevent the situation from escalating or undermining trust within the organization.
This course provides insight into what you should be aware of when handling whistleblowing and misconduct cases. You will learn how to communicate clearly, offer support, and engage with both the person raising the concern and the person who is the subject of the report in a fair and constructive way.
