Opening of the 2026–2027 academic year at UiB

About the event

During the welcome ceremony we celebrate the beginning of a new academic year for our new and current students and staff.

We hope to see as many of you as possible at the welcome ceremony!

This year’s ceremony will take place on Monday 10 August at 9:45 a.m. at Muséplass. The ceremony is open to everyone. The area opens for entry at 9:00 a.m., and we recommend that you arrive well in advance of the ceremony starting at 9:45 a.m. Dress according to the weather. Umbrellas can block the view for others and create crowding. We therefore recommend rainwear if needed.

Programme:
- The ceremony lasts from 9:45 a.m. to approximately 10:45 a.m.
- Opening with academic procession
- Speeches by Rector Margareth Hagen and others
- Musical performances by the student choirs.
